Bandits abduct Niger Commissioner for Information

The Commissioner for Information in Niger State, Alhaji Sani Idris has been abducted by some unknown gunmen.

This news of his capture was confirmed by The Secretary to the Government of Niger State, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane who said he was abducted around 1 am at his hometown, Baban Tunga in the Tafa local government area.

He said that security operatives were already on the tail of criminals saying they hope to rescue him unharmed soon.

The state has been bit by a wave of attacks and abductions by bandits. In February, more than 27 students were kidnapped in Kagara.

There have been other mass abductions, including the kidnapping of over 100 Islamiyya pupils in Tegina area of the state, according to TheCable.ng

The pupils are in captivity.
