A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 46-year- old applicant, Ujeh Balogun, to nine months imprisonment for stealing a Toyota Carina E car.

The Magistrate, Mr Isaac Ajum, sentenced Balogun accordingly as he admitted committing the offence.

The magistrate, however, gave Balogun N30,000 option of fine.

Earlier the prosecutor, ASP Hyacinth Gbakor, told the court that one Godwin Tyove of Ikpayongo, Gwer- East LGA of Benue, reported the case at Ikpayongo Police Station.

Gbakor said that the convict stole the complainant’s car at Jessy Bar Ikpayongo, and his Itel cellphone.

“He was arrested in Kano State with the Toyota Carina E,” the prosecutor said.

The convict had begged the court to temper justice with mercy, as he is married with children.
