Abducted Zamfara lecturer’s wife, two daughters released, ransom paid

Bandits Bandits

Bandits have released the wife and two daughters of a lecturer with the Federal College of Education Technical, Gusau, Zamfara State, Dr Abdurrazak Muazu, after collecting the sum of N10m.

A family member, Mohammed Bello, said the victims were released in the early hours of Monday when the bandits, who earlier demanded the sum of N50m, later agreed to collect N10m.

The wife, Binta, and the two daughters, Maryam and Hafsat, were kidnapped in their house in Mareri village, Gusau town, around 1 am on Friday.

A worker at the institution, Mohammad Lawal, said the gunmen targeted Abdurrazak, adding that they did not see him because he hid in the ceiling when he heard their movements.

“They searched the house for over an hour looking for him, but when they could not see him, they abducted his wife, Binta, and his two daughters, Maryam and Hafsat,” he added.
