25-year-old man lands into trouble for allegedly cutting off another man’s thumb

A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday ordered that a 25-year-old man, Yusuf Abubakar, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly cutting a man’s thumb.

The police charged Abubakar, who resides in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, with causing grievous hurt, contrary to the provisions of Section 248 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Ibrahim Khalil, who gave the order, adjourned the case until June 30, for further mention.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mrs Maryam Jibril told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 4, in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

Jibril said that the defendant used a sharp cutlass and cut off the thumb of Aliyu Adam.

She said that the defendant wounded Adam’s mother, Jamila with a knife.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. (NAN)
