Last week, the Nigerian Exchange Limited All-Share Index fell 0.09 per cent to close the week at 165,370.40 points, while market capitalisation rose 0.18 per cent to N106.153tn.
Most other indices closed higher, except NGX 30, CG, Premium, Banking, Pension, Growth, and NGX Pension Broad, which recorded declines of 0.13, 0.63, 0.75, 0.63, 0.41, 1.13, and 0.22 per cent, respectively.
Also, investors on the Nigerian Exchange traded a total of 3.087 billion shares worth N81.505bn in 222,185 deals, down from 3.748 billion shares valued at N99.865bn exchanged in 237,179 deals the previous week.
The Financial Services Industry dominated trading with 1.495 billion shares valued at N33.923bn in 83,939 deals, contributing 48.45 per cent of total equity turnover volume and 41.62 per cent of total turnover value. The Services Industry followed with 443.222 million shares worth N4.936bn in 17,615 deals, while the ICT Industry recorded a turnover of 279.520 million shares valued at N6.443bn in 24,552 deals.
Trading in the top three equities by volume, Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc, Cutix Plc, and Secure Electronic Technology Plc, accounted for 513.382 million shares worth N1.139bn in 4,895 deals, representing 16.63 per cent of total market volume and 1.40 per cent of total value.
In the bonds and fixed-income market, 2.620 million units worth N784.230m were traded in 4,396 deals, compared with 1.920 million units valued at N393.280m in 2,509 deals the previous week. Similarly, 91,005 units valued at N90.685m were traded in 42 deals, up from 45,386 units worth N48.053m in 22 deals.
During the week, 44 equities appreciated, lower than 58 equities in the previous week; 49 equities depreciated, higher than 40 equities last week; while 55 equities remained unchanged, up from 50 equities previously.
Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc listed 125 million ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N80.00 per share through a private placement, increasing total issued shares from 36.425bn to 36.550bn.
Additionally, Presco Plc listed 166.667 million ordinary shares of 50 kobo each following its rights issue at N1,420.00 per share, raising total issued shares from 1bn to 1.167bn.
