The naira appreciated against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange barely 24 hours after depreciation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the naira gained slightly to N1,419.35 on Tuesday, up from N1,420.28 on Monday.

This means that the Naira gained N0.93 on a day-to-day basis.

At the black market, the Naira remained stable at N1,493 per dollar on Tuesday, the same exchange rate recorded the previous day.

This follows the continued rise in Nigeria’s external reserves, which rose to $45.95 billion as of Tuesday, 19th January 2026, from $45.90 last week Friday.

Recall that on Monday, the naira dipped against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
