Lagos holds farmers’ fair, sells rice N20,000

The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, has said the state is set to hold the December edition of the Eko City Farmers’ Fair and Appreciation Day, where residents could get produce at farm gate prices.

Olusanya noted that 50 kilogrammes bag of LAKE rice would be sold for N20,000 at the event, scheduled for Sunday at the Ndubusi Kanu Park at Alausa, Ikeja.

She explained that the reduced price was due to the intervention of the state government, with support from the federal and Kebbi state governments.

The commissioner said the farmers’ fair would also be a platform for the best of the city’s producers to meet with consumers and end users, using traditional and innovative development methods.

The commissioner pointed out that the objectives of the market were to make shopping entertaining; make produce accessible and affordable to consumers; preserve the nutritional value of farm produce ;and promote the farm-to-fork concept of the input and output policy of the state government.
