WhatsApp on Thursday, November 5, said it will be introducing feature that allows messages to disappear on the platform after seven days it had been sent.

Hindustan Times reports that the feature will be rolled out to all users on the chatting app in November. It should be noted that the company said it wants conversations on the platform to be as real as possible and that should not have to be recorded forever.

According to an official statement from the Facebook-owned company, whenever the feature is activated, the conversation goes into a private mode and anything typed will be wiped off after the seven days.

Unlike in personal chats where individuals can turn on or off the feature whenever they please, only admins have that control in groups.

WhatsApp said: “We’re starting with seven days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent, while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about. The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there while you need it, and then disappear after you don’t.”
