We won’t allow saboteurs take over our economy – Customs

This is coming on the heels of the smuggling which permeated the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) petrol before the removal of subsidy.

Its Comptroller – General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who was asked whether there were still incidences of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) after the removal of subsidy, said the the crime has reduced.

He spoke in Abuja at the sensitisation workshop on Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.

The acting Customs boss said to prevent the smugglers from hijacking the economy, it is now monitoring the situation closely.

“We still have some incidences in some border stations. The rate has reduced and we are going to be watching the situation very closely.

“The situation of fuel is very sensitive and we cannot afford to allow the saboteurs take over our economy,” he said.

Adeniyi announced its plan to review policies and processes that inhibit free trade.
