A video showing how Innoson Motors CNG-powered vehicles will work in the face of fuel subsidy has emerged on social media.

This comes after the indigenous car manufacturer announced plans to help car owners convert petrol-powered cars to run on cheaper and cleaner Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The eco-friendly automotive initiative would reduce the demand for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol.

CNG vehicles operate much like petrol-powered vehicles with spark-ignited internal combustion engines.

Innoson’s current lineup of vehicles, including IVM G40 and G80, CARIS and Hummer bus, are currently available to customers in petrol and diesel-powered engines.

A post announcing the plan reveals that the automaker “will soon formally open its factory for vehicle owners to convert their petrol vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles”.

But the Facebook post didn’t specify whether or not this conversation at the Innoson facility would be available to only IVM-branded vehicles.

The converted vehicle, called natural gas vehicle (NGV), is an alternative fuel vehicle that uses cheaper and cleaner Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel.

A video showing how to car will work was shared on social media by Dele Momodu and Nigerians were quick to comment as they shared their opinions.
