The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced that it is experiencing a shortage of gas supply required to power generating plants across the nation.

It made this statement Monday where it noted that the shortage of gas supply has constrained the capacity of thermal power generating stations in the country.

Initially, the TCN had reported poor gas supply to power stations a few weeks ago but the issues were unattended till this moment, reducing the quantum of electricity to the other 11 distribution companies.

The affected power plants were Geregu Gas, Geregu NIPP, Sapele NIPP, Olorunshogo NIPP, Olorunshogo Gas, Gbarian, Alaoji NIPP, and Omotosgo Gas. Other power generating stations with low gas supply included Delta II and IV, Okpai, Egbin Power Plant, Independent power and Paras Energy.

Only Shell (Afam VI), Odupani IPP and Azura were operating without gas supply.
