Some staff of a local bank in Ghana are protesting what they describe as unfair treatment by the new management of the bank.
The staff of Prudential Bank Ghana Limited, located in Ghana's capital, Accra, accused the new leadership of the institution of implementing selective salary increments for some junior staff while ignoring the long-serving employees.
According to local news platform Citi FM, the salary adjustments were also accompanied by the allocation of fuel allowances to selected individuals, an action they say has deepened discontent among the wider workforce.
The protest took place at the bank’s head office, with employees calling for management to ensure equitable salary reviews and transparent communication across all staff categories.
Prudential Bank’s management is locked in a crunch meeting with the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU).
