Nigeria has been listed as the fourth country with people who have no access to the internet.

According to the report, 123.42 Nigerians are offline. India tops the list with 683.7 million who do not use the internet.

Life may be described as difficult for these people because the internet and social media have become very vital in modern society, revolutionising how people communicate, work, learn, and access information.

Not having access to the internet can affect their overall development in life.

The survey was conducted by increditools.com and it reveals that about 50 per cent of India's population has no digital presence.

In 2019, 39 per cent of China’s 1.4 billion strong population lived in rural areas; this vast rural population means a large part of China’s population is without the internet.

With many countries on this list, the rural-urban technology divide is a significant problem, meaning many people simply do not have access to the internet because of their location.

Pakistan with 131.8 million ranked third; Ethiopia with 103.29 million ranked fifth; Bangladesh 96.47 million ranked sixth while Indonesia 93.4 million seventh.
