The Naira recorded the highest appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.

Central of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira strengthened impressively to N1,401.22 on Tuesday, down from N1,418.95 traded on Monday.

This means that on a day-to-day basis, the naira gained N17.73, or 1.27 percent, against the dollar, the highest appreciation since last year’s October.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained at N1,490 per dollar on Tuesday, the same rate as the previous day.

The uptrend in Nigeria’s currency at the official market is not unconnected to the continued rise in the country’s foreign reserves, which stood at $46.04 billion as of 26th January 2026.

The naira has recorded gains in the past two trading days at the currency market.
