NIMC staff embarks on two-day strike over funding

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)’s staff are staging a two-day strike over concerns of funding and inadequate provision of PPEs.

According to NIMC, the demand for safety measures was necessary due to the continuous increase in COVID-19 cases in the country.

Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) NIMC unit, Asekokhai Lucky Michael and the unit’s secretary, Odia Victor made this known in a signed statement.

The association has however, called on all members in the local government offices to avoid the various centres, adding that the association task force and implementation committee would be present to ensure compliance.

“The Unit Executive hereby directs all members of Grade Level 12 and below in the Head Office and all states offices to report to their respective duty post tomorrow (today) 7th January, 2021 and do nothing.”

This move by the NIMC staff has left several customers stranded as work at the various outlets has been put to a halt.
