MTN Nigeria has promised to accelerate long term business growth in Nigeria, while leveraging on emerging opportunities, through a refined strategy.

According to the telecoms company, the new strategy called Ambition 2025 would closely be aligned with that of MTN Group and built on four key strategic priorities: build the largest and most valuable platforms, drive industry-leading connectivity operations, create shared value and accelerate portfolio transformation.

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mr Karl Toriola, made the promise in a recent statement to announce the company’s half-year financial results ended June 30, 2021.

According to Toriola, the priorities would define MTN’s focus for the next five years.

“Taking advantage of MTN’s existing platforms and assets, we are well-positioned to accelerate long term growth as we continue to monitor and manage the impacts of the pandemic. We have a clear focus on sustaining double-digit service revenue growth ahead of inflation, driving 4G and rural network expansion, as well as positioning our FinTech and digital businesses for accelerated growth in order to unlock their full value. In addition, we will continue to sustain our expense efficiency programme to strengthen our financial position and support margins,” Toriola said.

“We are driving a positive culture change across the organisation to enhance productivity and further improve performance. We maintain our strong focus on deeper, proactive and inclusive engagements to drive shared value for all stakeholders while ensuring that our activities align with and contribute to the Government’s development agenda," Toriola added.

Announcing MTN’s plans for its 20th-anniversary celebration in Nigeria, Toriola said MTN Nigeria would be executing numerous national impact projects in the coming months, to mark the milestone.

“We are pleased to announce that our Board of Directors has approved our participation in the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit (RITC) Scheme. This is in response to the government’s drive towards public-private partnerships in the rehabilitation of critical road infrastructure in Nigeria. We intend to participate in the restoration and refurbishment of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway,” Toriola said.

According to the financial statement released by the company, MTN’s participation in the RITC Scheme is one of the many projects that will be executed in celebration of MTN Nigeria’s 20th year in Nigeria.

Since its launch in 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its unmatched services across Nigeria, connecting approximately 69 million people in communities across the country with each other and the world.

MTN Nigeria currently provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities, and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of Nigeria and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
