Jean-Philippe Benard steps down from Lafarge Board

Jean-Philippe Benard has stepped down from the board of Lafarge Africa Plc's board as Non- Executive Director.

According to a notice filed by the firm to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Benard's resignation was effective January 24th, 2020, following his decision to advance his career beyond LafargeHolcim Group.

The Board thanked the former Non- Executive Director for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Benard's resignation is the second resignation from the LafargeHolcim Group after Michel Puchercos was poached by Dangote Cement to serve as CEO of their cement firm, leaving Lafarge in the process.

Prior to Mr. Benard’s resignation, he was the Chief Procurement Officer for LafargeHolcim Group and he was appointed to the Board of the Company on the 31st of October 2018 as a Non-Executive Director until his resignation.
