Full list of 11 nominees for confirmation as judges in FCT

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has sent a list of 11 nominees to the Senate to be confirmed as judges in the Federal High Court in the FCT.

The names of the nominees was read on the floor of the Senate by Senate President Ahmad Lawal.

The names of the nominees include: Christopher Opeyemi Oba (Ekiti State); Mohammed Idris (Kano State); Abubakar Husseini Musa (Adamawa State); Edward Okpe (Benue State); Babashani Abubakar (Borno State); Emuesiri Francis (Delta State); Jude Ogho (Delta State); Josephine Enobi (Edo State); Hassan Maryam Aliyu (Kebbi State); Fashola Akeem Adebowale (Lagos State); and Hamza Muazu (Niger State).

According to Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, judges from the FCT are part of the FCT High Court.

“A major criterion is to ensure that states that do not have anybody on the bench are given priority.

“I just wanted to clarify that the FCT has Judges on the bench of the FCT,” Bamidele said.
