Fidelity Bank responds to alleged debit of N5.9m, blames customer

Fidelity Bank has responded to widespread accusations of wrongly debiting a customer for no reason.

Taking to Twitter to clear the air, the lender said the customer, Mr Victor failed to perform obligations on his part.

The bank said Victor failed an enhanced due diligence exercise conducted by the bank as part of the Know Your Customer requirements.

This led the bank to return all deposits via a Manager's cheque valued at N5,907,850.00 in the customer's favour. It proceeded to explain the situation to the customer.

Mr Victor, on the other hand, chose to then defame the bank and rubbish its name in the mud.

"From the foregoing, it is clear that the bank had not acted inappropriately. We are a responsible corporate citizen and conduct our business in line with stipulated banking rules and the laws of the land," a statement from the bank read.

Yesterday, Victor accused the bank of withdrawing the sum of N5.9m from his bank account for no reason.

He rushed to Twitter to state his case, with screenshots from SMS and App, playing the victim.
