FG inaugurates 7.5KW, 100KW solar mini-grid in Anambra, Ebonyi

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through its implementing agency, the Rural Electrification Agency, on Friday commissioned a 7.5KW solar mini grid at the Joint Hospital, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State.

On Thursday, the agency also commissioned a 100KW solar hybrid mini grid power plant in Eka Awoke Community, Ikwo Local Government Area, of Ebonyi State.

REA disclosed in a statement that the completed projects were in line with the government’s mandate, as the present administration sought to provide remote communities with clean and affordable energy.

It stated that this would be through strategic investment in the deployment of 12 solar mini-grid systems that would provide power for five million homes in 2021.

REA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Salihijo, said, “I am delighted to announce that with the solar hybrid mini-grid commissioned today, homes, businesses and the entire community will now have access to clean, safe and sustainable energy.

“This automatically enhances productivity and provide jobs in the community. One of the ways that we accomplish our mandate as an agency is through off-grid electrification initiatives.”
