The Federal Government has not taken a decision to furnish Nigerians with free electricity, the Ministry of Power has said.

It made this statement in a tweet this morning.

The Ministry of Power said that when it becomes a reality, it would be announced officially.

"No decision has been taken by the Federal Government to provide Nigerians with free electricity for 2 months. If and when that becomes a reality, it shall be announced officially.

"Be rest assured that FG is exploring ways to ameliorate any hardship on Nigerians," the Ministry tweeted.

Just recently the House of Representatives was seeking a way to provide free electricity to Nigeria at no cost.

According to the speaker, sitting at home for two weeks is a long time and what will bring succour to the people is providing basic amenities. Something that their West African counterparts, Ghana has perfectly done.
