After a brief unprecedented delay, former acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, has finally testified before the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC at the ongoing investigative hearing in Abuja.

Recall that the NDDC is under investigation for alleged illegal expenditure and mismanagement where was the Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio was indicted by Ninueh.

Prior to today's hearing, Ninueh's Port Harcourt residence was invaded illegally after security operatives placed her under house arrest without an arrest permit.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who prevented the police from taking Nunieh away, had asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to probe the invasion of the former NDDC boss.

It was alleged that the invasion was to prevent Nunieh from moving from Port Harcourt to Abuja to testify before the panel.

In Abuja, top officials of the NDDC, who appeared before the committee had walked out of the venue of the sitting after insisting that the panel Chairman, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, must step down.

The House Committee on NDDC has summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it.

The committee issued the summons after Nunieh made a series of allegations against him, concerning his maladministration of the NDDC.
