Coronavirus: AXA Mansard shuts down for 2 weeks

AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has shut down its welcome centres today, Wednesday, March 25, 2020, for the next two weeks.

In a notice filed by the insurance firm to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, it said it closed its office in order to comply with the Federal Government's recommendation regarding the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Nigeria.

It noted that the safety and wellbeing of customers, employees and other stakeholders was its priority.

In the meantime, the firm noted that it would shift to remote working and encouraged customers to reach out to them via alternative channels like phone calls, emails and its website.

"At AXA Mansard Insurance Plc (AXA Mansard), our top priority remains the continued safety and wellbeing of our customers, employees and other stakeholders. To this end, all AXA Mansard Welcome Centres will be closed to the public for the next two weeks, effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

"Please be rest assured that we have activated our Business Continuity Plan and remote working capabilities have been put in place to ensure that our services continue with minimal disruption," the statement read in part.

Recall that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria has surged from 44 cases to 46 as at 7 am this morning.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, both cases were returning travellers to Nigeria in the last 7 days with one in Lagos and a fresh case in Osun.
