The Ondo State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, has sought the collaboration of the state government for economic development.

The group said it would come up with a position paper which would look at ways of making the collaborations possible.

This was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the group, Mr Adeboro Onibalusi, after its meeting in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday.

The statement was made available to our correspondent on Thursday.

The meeting was said to be the first after the inauguration of the new executive.

In the statement, the President of the chamber, Olumide Araoyinbo, said the association would come up with a position paper which would look at ways of collaboration and partnership with government and private bodies, with the aim of developing the economy of the state.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to call on the government and those responsible for formulation of policies to help put in place policies and structures that will encourage businessmen, women, farmers and traders to grow their businesses.”

While frowning at the high cost of foodstuffs and the resultant effects on the rising cost of living, Araoyinbo advised the government to immediately intervene by releasing its grain reserve and making them available to Nigerians at subsidised rate.
