Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee is seeking inclusion into the ongoing Train 7 gas project, coordinated by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited.

This was revealed during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engr. Simbi Wabote, at the Board’s headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Responding to the request for local content in the gas deal, Wabote assured the Bonny Kingdom Committee that opportunities for Nigerians in the sector will be well catered for.

Wabote said that every Nigerian who has developed capacity will be considered for the LNG Train 7 project. He said the youths and people of Bonny Island that possess the required skills and capacity will equally benefit as the host community.

Wabote's words: "Our mandate is very clear, which is to provide opportunities for Nigerians in the oil and gas sector and build capacities that can be utilized in the oil and gas value chain."

The Executive Secretary urged them not to sell or give their opportunities as it has become a norm in this part of the country.

Last year, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and its investment partners, Shell, Total and ENI, signed a $10 billion deal for the construction of Train 7 of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas.

According to reports, the NLNG Train 7 project would rake $20 billion in revenue into the federal government account and create 10,000 direct and 40,000 indirect jobs.

The Train 7 project is expected to increase the LNG production capacity from 22 million Million Tonnes Per Annum to around 30 Million Tonnes Per Annum.
