Akeredolu, Akure indigenes mourn Adedayo’s death

Indigenes of Akure metropolis, the Ondo State capital, were yesterday thrown into mourning following the sudden death of House of Representatives member, representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency, Omolafe Adedayo.

The sympathisers, who took to the streets to bemoan Adedayo’s passage, carried the photographs of the deceased wailing and crying over the loss, thereby causing gridlock along the major roads in the state capital.
 
According to them, his sudden death was very “expensive” for the Akure people to bear politically in the four local councils namely: Akure South, Akure North, Ifedore and Idanre, in the scheme ahead of the 2023 elections.
The Guardian learnt that the lawmaker, who was also the state co-ordinator of Sure-P under former President Goodluck Jonathan, died around 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning after being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo.

Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said the news of his demise was a rude shock to the people of the state. 

The deceased, he said, was committed to the service of his people, having served as an elected executive chairman of Akure South Local Council in 2004 and subsequently achieving his desire to represent his people at the National Assembly. 

The immediate past governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, said it was a huge loss to Akure people and Ondo State in general.
