Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has slashed its economy class tickets on the Abuja-London route.
The airline slashed its Abuja to Heathrow fares to N448,500 as it prepares to launch its maiden flight to the UK’s busiest airport on October 25, 2025.
Checks on the airline’s website showed that the cheapest ticket for economy class for November 9, 2025, from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to London Heathrow Airport is now N448,500.
The amount is cheaper than the ones offered by its peers, such as British Airways. Findings showed that on British Airways’ website, the lowest fare is about N493,500, which is slightly higher than the Air Peace rate, while Virgin Atlantic’s cheapest ticket now costs N1.458 million.
Other airlines, such as KLM, sell their cheapest ticket at N906,000, while Lufthansa sells its economy seat to London at N848,300.
RwabdAir sells its ticket for N404,600, lower than Air Peace. Kenya Airways sells its economy class ticket to London for Ksh623,700, while Ethiopian Airlines sells for Ksh759,058, and Air Maroc sells at Ksh768,521.
According to a report by Daily Sun, Air Peace had commemorated its Lagos to London route anniversary, stating that since launching its maiden flight to London on March 30, 2024, it had operated 662 flights and transported over 136,661 passengers in the first year.
Air Peace launched the Lagos-London flight when the Nigerian aviation industry was grappling with high flight tickets due to trapped funds belonging to foreign airlines.
The foreign carriers had blocked their lower inventories from Nigerian travellers as they could not repatriate trapped funds. The development led to high-cost flight tickets, with economy seats selling for as high as N3 million, forcing travellers to seek alternative routes.
Some Nigerian passengers broke their journey, travelling via neighbouring African countries to connect flights to the UK.
Amid the price slash by Air Peace, another Nigerian airline, United Nigeria Airlines, signalled plans to commence flights to the UK and the US.
The airline disclosed that it is awaiting its aircraft and has received clearance from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
It disclosed that it will commence regional flights to Accra, Ghana, in September, as it expands its flight operations on the African continent.
