Abducted APC chieftain found dead days after kidnap

Edo Police Command have confirmed the death of the state's leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Presley Ediagbonya, on Monday.

The APC chieftain was found dead on Monday, two days after he was abducted by unknown gunmen at his farm located in Utesi, around Okada, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the State.

Ediagbonya, who was a former Commissioner for Youths and Sports, was formerly a local government chairman and had also served as deputy Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government.

According to Edo police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, “Speculations on the death is still sketchy because I am yet to be briefed.

“When I am briefed, I will come up with a detailed statement to members of the public.”

The member representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Denis Idahosa, while commenting on the incident, urged security operatives to increase their security presence in the Area in order to prevent a re-occurrence of such sad incident. [Daily Trust]

He described the late Ediagbonya as an outstanding party leader with broad knowledge in party administration and grassroots politicking.
