A Youth Corper: All you need to know about Zenith Bank's new CEO, Adaora Umeoji

The Zenith Bank Plc has appointed its first female Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the highly dedicated and respected, Dr Adaora Umeoji.

Her appointment as CEO will take full effect on June 1, 2024 after approval from the apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria.

MyNigeria lists some interesting facts you may not know about Dr Umeoji:

1. Dr Umeoji was first introduced to the banking industry while serving as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member at the Zenith Bank. She has sinced worked for the Zenith Bank for 26 years.

2. She founded the Catholic Bankers Association of Nigeria (CBAN), is known for promoting ethical banking and humanitarian service.

3. Adaora has been recognised as a peace advocate by the United Nations (UN-POLAC), where she received the Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON) national honour from the Nigerian government in 2022 for her nation-building efforts.

4. She served as Deputy Managing Director for Zenith Bank since October 28, 2016.

5. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Jos, a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and a First-Class Honours in Law from Baze University, Abuja.

6. She also has a Master’s of Laws from the University of Salford, UK, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar.

7. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Apollos University, USA, and a Certificate in Economics for Business from MIT Sloan School of Management, USA.

8. She is the founder of two organizations – Pink Breathe Cancer Foundation and Adorable Foundation. The Pink Breath Cancer Care Foundation runs several healthcare programs every year across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. These programs aim to provide crucial medical care to people living with cancer and other illnesses.
