The National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that kerosene prices in Nigeria increased in June 2025.

The bureau stated this in its latest price watch report released on its website.

Kerosene price for a litre According to the report, the average retail price per litre of household kerosene (HHK) for paid by consumers stood at N2,192.63 in June 2025.

This reflects an increase of 0.80% compared to N2,175.29 recorded in May 2025.

On a year-on-year basis, the average retail price per litre of the product rose by 41.00% from N1,555.11 in June 2024.

Prices of kerosene per litre in states

The report also shed light on states where residents pay more for kerosene and where it is cheaper.

Based on its state analysis, Kaduna recorded the highest average price per litre in June 2025 at N2,681.58, followed by Delta at N2,580.64, and Edo at N2,580.41.

On the other hand, the lowest prices were recorded in Abia at N1,659.35, Oyo at N1,766.12, and Bayelsa at N1,796.46.

In regional comparison, the South-South zone recorded the highest average retail price per litre at N2,336.69, followed by the North-West at N2,238.71, while the South-West recorded the lowest at N2,065.38.

Prices of kerosene per gallon

The average retail price per gallon of household kerosene paid by consumers in June 2025 was N8,684.15 indicating an increase of 2.38% from N8,482.22 in May 2025.

On a year-on-year basis, this represents a 52.39% increase from N5,698.68 in June 2024.

State profile analysis revealed that Edo had the highest average retail price per gallon at N10,321.63, followed by Delta at N9,850.00, and Kebbi at N9,723.15.

The lowest prices were recorded in Abia at N6,737.40, Oyo at N7,064.48, and Bayelsa at N7,185.83.

For gallon-based regional analysis, the South-South zone once again topped the list with an average retail price of N9,103.18, followed by the North-East at N8,884.45, while the South-West recorded the lowest at N8,261.53.

Dealers increase cooking gas prices

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the NBS released the average cost of refilling 5kg and 12.5kg cooking gas cylinders.

The bureau stated that Nigerians are currently paying more for cooking gas compared to the same period in the previous month and year.

There are 10 states where residents pay less than the national average, including Oyo, Plateau, Yobe, and Niger.
