Israel Adesanya receives hero's welcome in New Zealand

Nigerian-born New Zealand mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya, recently received a hero's welcome from his fans in Auckland.

A viral video shared on Thursday, April 20 saw young men on the streets of Auckland, New Zealand flying the flag of the country as they showed off their dance to welcome the boxer.

His fans stormed the road to celebrate Israel's arrival, as they performed the Haka dance following his UCF Middleweight win.

Haka is a ceremonial Māori dance usually performed in a group during ceremonies and celebrations to honour guests and show the importance of the occasion.

Israel Adesanya pulled off a stunning knockout win over Brazilian, Alex Pereira to reclaim the middleweight crown at UFC 287 in Miami.
