The second bouted ended in the seventh round after Wilder, who was knocked down twice, had his team throw in the towel. The move saw him lose his WBC title to Tyson Fury.

“Things like this happen, the best man won tonight but my trainer, my coach, my side threw in the towel, and you know I’m ready to go out on my shield. I had a lot of things going on coming into this fight but it is what it is”, Wilder said immediately after the fight.

He also spoke about his legs which were shaky during the match.

“My leg was already weak coming in. But I make no excuses tonight. I just wish that my corner would have let me go out on my shield. I’m a warrior. That’s what I do.”
