Super Eagles star to join Premier League's new team Brentford - Report

The Super Eagles The Super Eagles

The Bees secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time after beating Swansea in the playoffs and are already making plans to compete

Nigerian international Frank Onyeka will leave FC Midtjylland this summer to join Premier League’s newest team Brentford.

According to the Danish newspaper ekstrabladet, Onyeka will sign for the Bees, who are also owned by Midtjylland owner, Matthew Benham.

The Super Eagles star hasn’t turned up for the Danish side’s pre-season preparations and has been removed from the club’s list of available players.

Onyeka joined Midtylland from FC Ebedei, similar to Paul Onuachu, who also joined the Danish club from the Ijebu-Ode based-team.

He started with the club’s U-19 team before making the grade to the first team, where he became one of the best midfielders in the Danish top-flight.

The 23-year-old is now set to continue his development under Thomas Frank. The Danish manager led Brentford to the Premier League for the first time after they defeated Swansea in the Championship playoff final.

Brentford had lost at the same stage to Fulham in the 2019/2020 season, but they were deserved winners against the Swans, winning 2-0.

The Bees are signing a player with Champions League and international experience. Onyeka made his debut for Nigeria in the friendly clash against Algeria last October. He also played in all of Midtjylland’s Champions League games- although they finished bottom of their group.
