Sadiq Umar inspires Almeria to victory over Logrones

Nigeria and Almeria striker, Sadiq Umar's goal was enough to aid his side beat Logrones 2-1 in the La Segunda B clash on Monday, May 24.

The striker goal's in the opening two minutes put Almeria in full control of the tie.

The ex-Roma player was at the right place at the right time to finish off a delightful pass from Manu Morlanes.

The goal was Umar’s 20th of the season for Almeria since arriving from Serbian side Partizan Belgrade, where he already scored six times in the league, before agreeing the transfer, Brila.net reports.

Juan Brandariz doubled the lead for Almeria in the 27th minute as he tucked in a cross from Jose Lazo.

Sadiq had the chance to make it 3-0 after Almeria were awarded a penalty, but he agonisingly missed the spot.

Logrones gave them a lifeline as Leonardo Ruiz halved the lead with a superb finish with 20 minutes left to play in the match.

Almeria, however, held on to their lead for a nervy win and secured a place in the promotion playoff.
