Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma, has narrated his bitter experience in the den of unknown gunmen who abducted him.

Recalled Stanley Eguma was kidnapped on his way back to Port Harcourt leading his team out in Nigeria professional football league match against Adamawa United for ten days.

The experienced gaffer spent the four-day in their den, before regaining his freedom on Saturday.

Reflecting on the ugly experience, the coach said being a football coach was his saving grace.

“What saved me was that I am a football coach, not a politician, it would have been sad news. I thank God and Nigerians for their prayers,” he said.

Eguma was excused from Rivers United’s narrow win over Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka’s Stadium on Sunday.

Eguma is the second NPFL coach to be kidnapped in recent times after Abdullahi Biffo’s four-month in kidnappers’ den.
