Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has left Danish club, SønderjyskE Fodbold four months after joining.

Onazi who joined the Danish club in September 2019 penned a 12-month contract with the option for an additional year, after his exit from the Turkish Super Lig side Denizlispor.

The Nigeria international has made just three league appearances since joining the club, no thanks to a persistent knee injury that has hampered his career since 2019, Bila.net said.

The club however confirmed they have reached an agreement to end Onazi’s stay at the club, six months before expiration of his contract.

“There is not a finger to put on Onazi’s efforts in SønderjyskE. He has been a professional to the tips of his toes and he has fitted in well with the group with his dedication and he has also scooped out his experience to the young players on the team,”Haysen told the club’s official website.

“He came with a backlog from an injury, but he has been in almost all training sessions with us, and he played regularly in the Sydbank Cup and a few, games in the Super League. However, it did not turn out quite as he and we had hoped, and he himself has expressed that he might fit better into another league than the Superliga, and he now has the opportunity to try it out.

“We thank him for his efforts in the light blue jersey and wish him all the best for the future,” the club said in a statement on their website.

Onazi, who his under the management of former Super Eagles striker Stephen Ayodele Makinwa, will be hoping to further his career elsewhere.
