NFF fines Bayelsa Queens N.6m

Nigeria Women’s Football League leaders, Bayelsa Queens, have been fined N600,000 by the Nigeria Football Federation following the club’s breach of the NWFL rules, Saturday PUNCH reports.

Fans of Bayelsa Queens side encroached the field in the 79th minute during their game against Edo Queens on February 17, 2021.

On Friday, the disciplinary committee of the NFF found Bayelsa Queens guilty of infringement on the field of play by their fans while also breaking the COVID-19 protocols.

In a communiqué signed by the NFF’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, Bayelsa Queens are to pay N300, 000 for fans encroachment, and another N300, 000 for violating COVID-19 protocols.

“Bayelsa Queens FC is found guilty of encroachment and is hereby fined the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300, 000) only,” the communique reads.

“Bayelsa Queens FC is guilty of breach of COVID-19 protocols and is hereby fined the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300, 000) only.”

The committee also instructed the NWFL to write to the clubs on its guidelines as regards the COVID-19 protocols.
