Magical CR7 sets new goal scoring record despite Juventus' defeat

A surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Verona was not enough to stop Ronaldo from setting a new goal-scoring record for Juventus in the Italian Serie A on Saturday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first Juventus player to score in 10 straight Serie A games, breaking David Trezeguet's long-standing record. The Frenchman netted in nine consecutive domestic matches for Juve in 2005.

That goal meant the former Real Madrid man has now scored in 10 consecutive Serie A games and has taken his league tally for the season up to 20.[Goal]

The Old Lady were engaged in an end-to-end battle away to Verona with the home side's opener in the first half was ruled out by a VAR decision.

Douglas Costa and Cristiano Ronaldo hit the woodwork twice in the nerve-cracking encounter before the referee called for half time.

The nervy encounter continued as CR7 opened the scoring in the 65th minute but league leaders would later be stunned by an impressive Verona who stagged a come-back with goals from Fabio Borini (76') and Giampaolo Pazzini (86' pk).
