Real Madrid have regained a four-point lead over Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga table by beating Alaves 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday.

Barcelona reduced the gap to just one point after beating Espanyol 1-0 on Wednesday at the Camp Nou but Madrid did justice to widen the gap.

Karim Benzema displayed he is capable of leading the team in Sergio Ramos' absence due to suspension after scoring the opening goal in the 11the minute via a penalty.

The captain on the night, Benzema, also set up Marco Asensio for Madrid's second goal in the 51st minute.

As it stands, Real lead the table with 80 points next to Barcelona who have 76 points.

Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are tied on 63 points, third and fourth place respectively. Siego Simeone's men lead with goal difference.
