Joshua vows to knockout Usyk

Anthony Joshua Anthony Joshua

Two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has promised to knockout Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch billed for Saturday, August 20.

The 32-year-old admitted that his tactic to outbox his opponent in their first fight backfired.

Joshua lost last September's bout to Usyk by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium in London losing his WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF titles to the 35-year-old Ukrainian.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's showdown, the British-born boxer of Nigerian descent explained that he will approach Saturday's fight with a different mentality.

“I wanted to outbox my opponent, whether it was Usyk or anyone else; that was the mindset (in the first fight). I wanted to outbox my opponent and on Saturday I want to smash my opponent,” Joshua told Sky Sports News as quoted by The PUNCH Sports Extra.

“That’s just the mindset now.”

The rematch is set to take place at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia.
