Edouard Mendy set to become 1st African goalie to play in Champions League final

Chelsea goalie Edouard Mendy is now on the verge of becoming the first African goalkeeper who will appear in the final of the Champions League if he should start for the Blues against Man City.

The stage is set for this season's Champions League between Chelsea and Manchester City which is expected to be a tough battle in Porto.

According to the report by ESPN, no African goalkeeper has appeared in the final of the Champions League.

Edouard Mendy has kept 9 clean sheets in 11 UCL matches for Chelsea, conceding just twice with the Blues.

However, the 29-year-old was not in action for Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup which they lost against Leicester City.
