De Bruyne drops City exit hint over UEFA ban

Manchester City playmaker, Kevin de Bruyne, has hinted that he could leave the Citizens should they fail in their bid to overturn the Champions League ban hammered by UEFA.

Recall that City were slapped with a two-year ban from European competitions, including the Champions League, for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

The club, however, moved for an appeal against the punishment by UEFA with the hope that they would clear their name.

The Belgian has hinted that his future at the club would be dependent on the outcome of the appeal, meaning that, failure to win would see the 28-year-old leave the Etihad.

"Once the decision is made, I will review everything," De Bruyne told Het Laatste Nieuws.

"Two years would be long - but in the case of one year, I might see. I'm just waiting.

"The club told us they're going to appeal and they're almost 100 per cent sure they're right.

"That's why I'm waiting to see what will happen. I trust my team."

City boss Pep Guardiola has just one more year left on his deal and there are some suggestions that he could leave sooner if the European ban is upheld.

"We'll have to wait, but I'm not going to make a decision based on what [Guardiola] does of course," De Bruyne said.

"I have already worked under other coaches and when Pep leaves, I have to continue working with someone else.

"The last few years a lot of clubs have enquired, and have asked after my future plans, but I'm very happy at Manchester City.

"I play for one of the best teams in the world, I play in England, in my eyes from a competitive point of view it's the best league."
