The Ugandan premier league, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL), has announced a new partnership deal with telecommunication giants, MTN.

MTN was unveiled on Saturday, February 22 at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo by Joe Kigozi, the General Manager of Sanyuka TV, the flagship channel on the StarTimes bouquet, where the SUPL is telecast.

Speaking on the new partnership, Kigozi said, "MTN is a huge brand, that has been known to do big things in Ugandan sport. This makes them very valuable partners for the growth of the SUPL, because of their social media presence."

MTN Uganda boasts of 248.7K followers on Twitter, 1,184,477 likes and 1,197,740 followers on Facebook, while on Instagram, they have 128k followers, a boost for SPUL.

Chief marketing officer of MTN, Sen Somdev said that they are going to increase the fun around the game, beginning with making it easier for people to watch live games at their convenience.

“We are going to set up fans’ parks in different locations of the country so that the live SUPL games are watched on giant screens by those who may have failed to travel to the stadium,” Somdev said.
