Veteran actor, Emeka Ike has stated that the Nigerian movie has gained global acceptance and admiration because of the hard work of the veteran actors and actresses.

He made the statement in an interview with legendary Ghanaian actor and host of the KSM show, Kwaku Sintim-Misa on July 30, 2021.

According to Emeka Ike, to be an actor in Nigeria some years ago meant you lack discipline, or not from a good background, but now they have changed the status quo and acting is now one of the most desired professions in the country.

"We did everything we had to do when it was necessary and we didn't know we were building a platform for people but we were just putting out our energy, our efforts, our decency into this particular thing we do, and by the time we knew it, everybody wants to be an actor.

"When we started, acting was more like for riff-raffs, for people who are not educated, poor people's children, if you ever told your dad you were going to act, they are going to beat the living daylight out of you, because they want to believe that you are trying to become a useless child. So I think we redefined movie making in Nigeria. We made it look like what it should be," he stated.
