The death of veteran Nigerian actor, Sadiq Abubakar Daba, came as a shock to many despite he living with two terminal diseases for the last four years of his life.

Daba, who was known as a father figure by his pears was not only an actor but an accomplished On-Air-Personality (OAP).

He hails from Kano State and grew up in Sierra Leone. After obtaining his Secondary School Certificate from St. Edwards Secondary School, then he returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in acting.

The talented actor who began his career in the 70s reported died in Lagos on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, after battling prostate cancer and leukemia.

Below are four things you need to know about the actor

1. He was an Award Winner

Sadiq Daba picked up a number of awards during his time in the industry. In 2015, he won the Best Actor Award for the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for his outstanding role as Officer Waziri in the blockbuster Movie titled "October 1".



2. He has a son who looks like him.

Little may not know but Sadiq Daba has a son, Abubakar Daba who looks pretty much like him.

According to Abubakar, there was a time he had to play a role for his father because he was not available to shoot on the day.



3. He was a die-hard Arsenal fan.

Arsenal fans are probably proud right now. An ardent football lover, Daba is reported to be a strong Arsenal fan who at some point visited the Emirates stadium to watch the club play.





4.He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and leukemia way before he died

Sadiq Daba lived with two terminal diseases, prostate cancer and leukemia for more than 4 years. Not many could have survived for that long with the burden of these killer diseases.



5.He grew up in Sierra Leone

According to reports, Sadiq Daba moved to stay in Sierra Leone as a teenager.
