The hair industry is a thriving industry all over the world, including Ghana's capital, Accra where Nigerian-born entrepreneur, Isaac Bayem has set up his beauty salon, HairByHighZik.

In an exclusive interview with MyNigeria's Barbara Esinam Bonney, Isaac revealed how he was able to successfully build his customer base after moving to Accra, a city known to be hostile to foreigners especially Nigerians.

"When I came in at first, it's been very difficult for me to get clients to work on, and I have to start working towards ShopRite, working all around Osu to get clients to work on," he said.

He said his big break happened when female students in a tertiary school close to the city he worked in began patronizing his business, and he had to engage some other people to start patronizing him.

"Then, I did not know about GIJ school. Some students were coming then, but I didn't know about GIJ ... the challenges were a lot. I had to save to get money. I do so many things partaking to hair, so I had to go here, go there, talk to people, it's been very difficult actually but I managed throughout these years, and thank God for today, I'm here."

He, however, continued that he has a large customer base, and it's not only limited to students.

"I don't do it for students only. I make people's hair from different places. I have some clients at Ecobank, I have clients at MTN office, I have so many clients all over; people from Tema, people from Kasoa, they do come here."

The talented stylist further revealed that he can do so many ranges of hair, and is not only limited to hairstyling.

"I do a lot of weave-ons. I do Peruvian, I do Brazilian, Malaysian, Bonestraight, I do all that. I do a lot of weave-ons, I do bridal styling too," he said.

Isaac is currently training two apprentices, Precious and Esther to develop their hairstyling skills. They talked about how much of a great teacher he is; mixing lessons with a bit of fun, and achieving great results.
