Social media has reacted to the tragic loss of popular Nigerian singer, Sound Sultan's life.

The talented singer who is also known as Olarenwaju Fasasi had been battling throat cancer and was announced dead by his family on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

According to some social media users, he was the realest musician in the Nigerian entertainment industry and has made music that impacted society positively.

He was particularly remembered for his song, "jagbajantis (mathematics)" which preached about brotherhood, objectivity, democracy, modification, accountability and solidarity.

Usually able to handle news of the deaths of celebrities with a bit of distance but this Sound Sultan's own feels way too personal and I never really knew him.

He was a socially conscious artiste though and they are very few these days - our humanity is diminished by his death.

One thing I know was that Sound Sultan was celebrated when he was Alive. They still called him for shows even without releasing music. You guys should drop this agenda everytime someone dies abeg.

Sound Sultan is dead.
He died from Lymphoma-
Lymphoma is a cancer of our body’s fighter cells which form a huge part of the immune system.

He was only 44 years old.
He was too young.

But we needed to interview people. Sound Sultan was the first celebrity to agree to an interview.

We drove to FESTAC, he was warm, kind and helped us with our sound.
