Burna Boy, Wizkid are nominees for Best International Act at BET Awards 2021

Our Nigerian stars have continued to dominate this awards season, and two of our faves, Burna Boy and Wizkid have been nominated for Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards.

This year’s nominees reflect an abundance of creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports.

Burna Boy won the Best International Act category at the 2019 and 2020 BET Awards. Burna Boy and Wizkid are up for Best International Act, along with Aya Nakamura (France), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (UK), Young T & Bugsey (UK) and Youssoupha (France).





“We are back and excited to bring culture’s biggest night, the 2021 ‘BET Awards,’ safely back to Los Angeles to celebrate this year’s incredible roster of nominees,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy. “We broke ground as one of the first official awards shows to move forward during the global pandemic and we are ready to take our pioneer status to the next level with the return of an audience to celebrate the best and brightest creative minds in the entertainment industry.”

Issa Rae is up for Best Actress alongside Andra Day, Jurnee Smollett, Viola Davis, Zendaya, and Angela Bassett. Chadwick Boseman, Daniel Kaluuya, Eddie Murphy, Lakeith Stanfield, Aldis Hodge and Damson Idris were nominated in the category of Best Actor.

Megan Thee Stallion has seven nominations including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Collaboration. DaBaby also claimed the top spot securing seven nods, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Album of the Year, and Viewer’s Choice Award.
