The Republic of Tunisia has cut work hours to five hours per day following the rise in coronavirus cases in the North African country to 24 cases.

It also banned gatherings at markets, public baths, and celebratory events to help reduce crowding and spread of the deadly disease.

All these announcements were made by its Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh after a 16:00 curfew was announced for restaurants, cafes, and bars.

In addition, Tunisia has set plans in motion to close its land borders and airspace to all forms of commercial activities starting tomorrow.

"Working hours will also be reduced to five hours a day, over two shifts, to reduce crowding on public transport," a statement from the Prime Minister read.

2,000 people who traveled from countries with high infection rates, as well those who've been contact with confirmed coronavirus patients have been advised to self-isolate.
