Coronavirus: Ethiopia quarantines six travellers

Ethiopian authorities have quarantined at least, six people in the country's capital, Addis Ababa.

The deadly virus has claimed the lives of more then 600 people since its outbreak and thousands are infected.

Travelling in from the epicentre of the coronavirus, Wuhan, the travellers, five Ethiopians and a Chinese national are awaiting their test results.

Head of Ethiopia’s Public Healthful Institute, Ebba Abate, confirmed that they have sent blood samples from three of the individuals to South Africa with samples from the rest to follow shortly.

All travellers from Wuhan are being isolated and tested, he added.

Ethiopian Airlines continues to fly to China.

Previously all eight other suspected cases of coronavirus identified in Ethiopia have tested negative.
